As you look around your apartment, you may notice little piles of stuff starting to pile up even though you regularly clean and organize your home. Eventually, just about everyone’s home gets a little cluttered, and the extra stuff you own can contribute to reduced enjoyment in your Round Rock apartment.
With just a weekend or two spent organizing, you can reduce the clutter in your home, as well as make it easier to keep clean and clutter-free. Here are a few options you have for reducing your home’s clutter.
Go the Storage Route With Your Clutter
Recycling, donating, and selling items you no longer use are ideal options for reducing the clutter in your home, but the many storage container companies and storage unit companies have you covered when it comes to organizing your home. While some “de-cluttering” advice may suggest you should eliminate as much as possible from your home, there’s no reason to adopt a Spartan existence if you aren’t a fan of the sparse, modern style.
Rather than selling or giving away nearly everything you own, you can purchase some containers to help you organize items, as well as consider a storage unit for your extra and rarely-used items. If you have a hobby that you aren’t able to engage in that often, you can place those items in a storage unit until you go on your yearly vacation to use the items (maybe you like rock climbing and have a bunch of gear, but you don’t climb that often).
Storage containers can also help you reclaim space and increase the organization of your home. Not only can you use storage containers in your bedroom as decorative items, but you can also use basic storage containers in your closets and cupboards to keep the clutter at bay. Just don’t go overboard with the storage containers so much that the additional storage units make your apartment feel even more cluttered.
Go the Minimalist Route in Your Round Rock Home
If you’re adverse to adding storage containers to your already-cluttered home, you can head in the complete other direction into minimalism. Many people consider a life without clutter to feel less stressful, and reducing the decorations, extra furniture, and extra stuff you have in your apartment can help increase the peace and quiet and calm of your apartment.
The blog at Becoming Minimalist shares an interesting technique for reducing the number of clothes you own:
“Try the Oprah Winfrey Closet Hanger Experiment. While this idea didn’t originate with Oprah, she was the one to help give it notoriety. To identify wardrobe pieces to clear out, hang all your clothes with the hangers in the reverse direction. After you wear an item, return it to the closet with the hanger facing the correct direction. After six months, you’ll have a clear picture of which clothes you can easily discard. This experiment could also be applied to a number of clutter areas in your home (cleaners, toys, linens, tools, hobbies and craft items).”
Remember that you don’t have to go the whole route into minimalist territory. Simply adopting a few techniques minimalists use to keep their homes clutter-free can help you keep your apartment home spacious and beautiful.
